Job Description

Continental Tide is seeking motivated, energetic entry-level candidates interested in the dynamic environment of U.S. Navy Ship repair. Candidates must possess a technical school certificate, and the ability to secure a Security Credential. Desired applicants possess experience with SMAW and FCAW methods, as well as a strong work ethic, dedication, and aspiration to excel.

A willingness to travel, strong communication skills and the ability to work in teams is a must.

Candidates would be required to relocate to Continental Tide’s Virginia Beach, VA location.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must possess an associate’s degree or technical certificate in electro-mechanical or mechatronics technology or program.
  • Perform welding processes to repair, modify and install various pipes, structures, foundations and fittings associated with shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic and water systems.
  • Fabricate and install fixtures and jigs required for welding process alignments. Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness and adherence to NAVSEA, ABS & AWS standards. Installs or repairs equipment, such as pipes, valves, floors and tank linings.
  • Possess basic welder's tools.

Experience and Skills

Experience and Skills:

  • Must possess an associates or technical school degree
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCad drawings is preferred.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • A willingness to travel, strong communication skills and the ability to work in teams is a must.
