Job Description

Continental Tide is seeking a motivated, energetic Project Manager for our Virginia Beach office.  The candidate’s primary function will be to interface with DoD customers and Continental Tide Project Managers and staff. Must have a strong background in power generation, power transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated proficiency in executing programs related to ship Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) or electronic system projects and initiatives. Previous direct experience working with the Navy is essential.

 As a Project Manager your responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of ship HM&E or electronic system projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply in-depth working knowledge of power generation, power transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems to provide technical guidance and ensure project specifications are met.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships. Previous experience working with the Navy is crucial for understanding and meeting specific requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage project budgets, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring financial compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Provide mentorship and support to team members as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to guarantee the delivery of high-quality ship systems.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working directly with the U.S Navy.
  • Ability to secure a DBIDS access credential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to perform AIT and industrial execution and planning support.
  • Oversee and direct program and project initiatives.
  • Lead and direct work of employees assigned to projects.
  • Apply company policy and procedures to workforce.
  • Candidate must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch, reach, squat and twist.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
  • May require wearing a respirator.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
